My husband doesn’t like cabbage. So when he asked me to fill Ownza dough with Iowa loose meat sandwich filling, I did. When he and our son tried the first ones, our son said “Dad, do you hear the angels singing?” Something that tastes good is “ono” in Hawaii (where my husband lived at one time) – as in “so ono gonna broke your mouth”. It seemed natural to call them Onobuns! They’re the same slightly sweet dough as the Ownza, with a filling that’s ground beef, onion, and black pepper.
Ready to eat, or baked and frozen to heat and eat at home!
Heat and eat instructions
- From frozen, microwave 1 minute (for multiple Onos, microwave longer, approximately 30 seconds extra for each additional ono), then bake at 350 degrees 4-5 minutes.
- From thawed, microwave 30 seconds (for multiple Onos, microwave longer, approximately 10 seconds extra for each additional ono) then bake at 350 degrees 4-5 minutes.
- Air fryer may be used in place of oven
- May be microwaved until heated through (without baking). We recommend bake time to crisp the outside dough after microwaving.
